Attack the Weapon

Follow Through

What do i mean by weapon?

“Weapon” could be anything from the sword your attacker his holding to the fists and legs he uses to throw punches and kicks. It can even be the mind of your opponent. Even if your opponent out skills you in every aspect if you can attack their mindset you can destabilize the whole.

If for example he has a sword. I would target this sword before i did anything else. Jet li did this in a great example in the movie “Fearless” in his fight with the opponent one of them had a sword and the other had a 3 piece metal bar. The swordsmen new he was at a disadvantage for range because the three metal bars were connected. so what he did was attack the joint of the metal bars. By attacking the weapon and breaking the connected metal rings he took away the range advantage the weapon gave him. Without the range advantage the opponent was much easier to deal with.

What do i mean by Immobilize?

Kill Bill has a great example of this in the fight with Japanese sword. Bill realized she could not win in the sword fight because her opponents footwork was the key to her success. Both were using swords and because Bill could not get past the sword she targeted her opponents leg. eventually Bill cut her leg and she could no longer maintain her advantage. This eventually lead to her death. In this example if your weapons are equal then you move on to immobilizing your opponent. If your opponent cannot move they will be less likely to succeed in their attacks. If your opponent can not hold their weapon they will be less likely to be able to defend themselves.

What do i mean by follow through?

Follow through is the act of committing fully to your action. It means you have accepted death as an outcome but that it does not deture your engagement. For example in Japanese sword fight if you cannot attack your opponents weapon and you can not immobilize him either physically or by altering the circumstances, then you are left with follow through. You create an opening and accept that you will die and by doing this your opponent creates an opening. On the flip side far to often has it been shown where one person has won the fight and they are standing over the loser and they feel the need to gloat or explain themself thus leaving themselves open to attack. Follow through do not let emotion or hubris take over. There is no place for emotion in a fight unless you understand its purpose.

“Cold water simulates tension, when you meditate under a waterfall you are simulating great tension. you thus are becoming adapted to tension and mastering the art of relaxation”

The power to hit with relaxation is difficult to understand and even more difficult to explain. One can see though that when a drop of water hits the surface the droplet comes back up. why is this so? because there is reverb in the energy. when you hit with a straight solid punch where the arm is tense the reverb of your energy will have a direct line of force and channel back to you. Thus you are wasting energy. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

A weapon that perfectly demonstrates this concept is the Blackjack. This is a leather blugerring weapon that has weight at the end. This weapon was used to great effect by police in the 1970’s. IF the blackjack was just a solid stick with a weight at the end it would not be nearly as effective at close quarters. The reason the blackjack is effect is because of the leather. the leather allows it to relax when it strikes. Therefor any reverb gets absorbed by the blackjack.

Give your opponent no substance

When attacking an opponent you give them no substance. This allows you to channel your relaxed energy through the target. When you throw a punch and inceptionionalize the target not being this will allow you to hit with the full power of your relaxed intention. The moment you make contact the nonexistent target comes into existence and the energy transfers. IF you see and allow yourself to believe the target is real before you throw your punch you will end up changing your focal point of the attack. The metaphor of this idea would be to break a board with your punch. If you see the board as real when you punch you will hit short and break your hand on the brick wall. If you see no board when you throw your punch the focal point will be beyond the target and the hand will cut right through destroying the board. This technique though only works for offense if you try to use it for defense you will fail and their attacks will connect with their target.

Focal Point

The focal point is where your thought meets your intent. When we first start training we make everything REALLY big. This gross motar movement helps us create the neuron connections in our brain which teaches us how to move our muscles. Later one when you start to master the techniques the movements become smaller and the focal point changes. The best metaphor of this that we use is the flashlight analogy. When we start our flashlight beam is BIG and wide. Later our flashlight beam becomes narrow and focused.

Perfect Defense

If you want to obtain the perfect defense then you should never attack. Every time you attack you leave yourself open to counter attack. Even the very aspect of thinking about attacking leaves your mind open and therefor your body open to attack. If you wish to be successful in defense you must learned to never engage, not even with your mind. Practice this defense idea often enough and your body will learn to move and defend on its own independently of the mind. To many mind slows the reaction time. This best example of this is Goku from dragon ball Z when he learns Ultra Instinct. This is a technique where by mastering it you can avoid all danger. This is because you put yourself into a complete state of mind of nothingness and all your body to move independently and only blocking attacks. This technique only works though if you keep your mind clear and no thoughts occur.

The X

the x is THEE most critical thing when it comes to taking your opponent down. your opponents body sits in the middle of the X. if you were to drop a string down from the pelvis that would be the center point of the X. on top of the X there is also a cross ‘t’. the opponent will always be strong on this cross and weak on the X. Humans are very good at recognizing straight lines. From using our eyes to recognizing straight lines of force. Anything moving in one direction is easy for the brain to understand. When you pull someone on the x line though you are pulling on different lines of force. The brain has trouble identifying this and countering it unlike a straight line force.
